Key Highlights of the Amendment

  1. Number of Vacancies:
    • A total of 42,451 vacancies have been proposed for Constable (Executive) positions in 2024.
    • These include reserved positions for various categories, including Ex-Agniveers and Ex-Servicemen.
  2. Special Provisions for Ex-Agniveers:
    • Age Relaxation: A general relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit and an additional 5 years for candidates from the first batch of the Agniveer Scheme.
    • Exemption from Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Ex-Agniveers are not required to undergo the PET.
  3. Updated Eligibility Criteria:
    • Education: A 10+2 (Senior Secondary) pass or equivalent from a recognized board is required.
    • Driving License: A valid license for a Motor Car or Motor Cycle is mandatory during the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PEMT), except for certain roles like Bandsmen and Buglers.
    • Physical Standards: A minimum height of 170 cm and chest measurement of 81 cm (expandable by 5 cm). Relaxations apply for specific categories.
  4. Medical Standards:
    • Candidates must have a sound state of health, including 6/12 vision without glasses and no corrective surgeries.
    • Tattoos are allowed but must adhere to guidelines related to size, content, and location.
  5. Reservation Policy:
    • 10% of total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Agniveers.
    • Additional reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates continue as per government norms.
  6. Recruitment Process:
    • Recruitment will be conducted entirely through direct entry.
    • Annual recruitment drives are planned for every January. Special recruitment drives may be conducted if vacancies remain unfilled.
