The Delhi Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the setting up of the Go-Delhi Foundation with an initial allocation of ₹50 crore to develop the capital's startup and innovation ecosystem. The decision was announced on 18 October 2026. The foundation aims to help young innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs turn their ideas into marketable products and successful ventures.

Key Features of the Go-Delhi Foundation

The foundation will give integrated support to startups and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), helping them move from ideas to successful products. Its key features are:

  • Initial budget of ₹50 crore
  • Product development: access to product engineering, prototyping, labs and testing
  • Mentoring and incubation: technical, business and mentoring support
  • Investors: connections with investors and industries
  • Market preparation: help with testing, preparing for certification and entering markets
  • Intellectual property: assistance with intellectual property issues
  • Government collaboration: testing innovative products through pilot projects that address problems faced by government departments

How the Foundation Will Foster Innovation

The foundation will link entrepreneurs with educational institutions, research institutes, industries, investors and government departments. Instead of making entrepreneurs approach different institutions for technical and commercial help, it will bring these services together on one platform.

It will also follow a hub-and-spoke concept, with the programme run from existing locations of the institution and partner institutions in Delhi. Government departments can put forward their practical problems and test solutions offered by innovators.

Structure and Administration

The Go-Delhi Foundation will operate as a not-for-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, and will come under the Department of Industries of the Delhi government. This is expected to help it achieve its objective of fostering innovation and collaboration.

According to a government statement, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has identified approximately 21,000 startups in Delhi.
