Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Project GANGA in Lucknow on 9 June 2026. GANGA stands for Government Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement, and the project aims to provide fibre-based broadband connectivity to rural households across Uttar Pradesh.

● Project GANGA aims to provide fibre-based broadband connectivity to rural households and promote participation in the digital economy.
● The project targets around 20 lakh families for access to high-speed internet services.
● It will initially be implemented in 21 districts and later expanded to all 57,000 Gram Panchayats and 8,000 Nyaya Panchayats in Uttar Pradesh.
● OneOTT Intertainment Limited, the broadband arm of the Hinduja Group, is associated with the project as a Knowledge Partner and Implementation Enabler on a no profit, no loss basis.
● The project is expected to create more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
● It also aims to develop 8,000 to 10,000 Digital Service Providers across the state.
● Services under the project include digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, online skill training, public Wi-Fi, cybersecurity, smart agriculture, and IT-based employment.
● The initiative is linked with fibre broadband networks and digital service delivery in rural areas.
● The project will strengthen digital connectivity and internet access in rural Uttar Pradesh.
● It supports the expansion of digital services such as education, healthcare, governance, and skill development.
● The initiative is expected to generate significant employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
● It contributes to the goals of digital inclusion and rural economic development.
● The project promotes self-reliance and greater participation of rural communities in the digital economy.
