NTSE Scholarship Criteria 2026

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an Indian national scholarship program to find and develop outstanding students. The NTSE scholarship eligibility could differ slightly between states because each State/UT government administers the exam. Nonetheless, there are a few standard requirements for being eligible to take the NTSE exam,

  • Academic Requirements: To be eligible for the NTSE exam, students must be enrolled in Class X at a recognised board. They need to have received a minimum of 60% in their Class IX exam.
  • Age Limit: The NTSE exam has no stated age limit.
  • Citizenship: The NTSE exam is only open to students who are Indian citizens.
  • Minimum Marks: To be eligible for the scholarship, students must receive at least a minimum qualifying score on the NTSE exam. Every year and in each state, the precise cutoff points may change.
  • Process of Selection: The NTSE exam is administered in two stages: Stage 1 is administered at the state level by the relevant State/UT authorities, and Stage 2 is administered by NCERT at the federal level. For students to be eligible for the award, they must pass both phases.
  • Reservation: Under government regulations, seats are set aside for pupils who identify as SC, ST, or physically challenged.
  • Income Requirements: To be eligible for the NTSE scholarship, a state may impose income requirements. Supplementary benefits may be extended to students from economically disadvantaged sectors.

NTSE Application Process 2026 requires students to follow state-specific procedures, as applications are managed by respective State/UT authorities. Timely submission, correct documentation, and adherence to eligibility criteria are essential for successfully appearing in Stage I and progressing toward the national-level examination.
