Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has officially announced the Punjab PCS Mains Exam Date 2026, confirming that Punjab PCS Mains Exam will be conducted from April 01 to April 10, 2026, for candidates who qualified Punjab PCS Prelims stage. This announcement provides a clear schedule for aspirants to plan their preparation effectively for the seven-paper descriptive exam. What is PPSC Exam?

PPSC recruits officers through Punjab State Civil Service (PSC) exam to various administrative posts under Punjab Government, like Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Tehsildar, Excise & Taxation Officer (ETO), Food and Civil Supply Officer, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, etc. PPSC recruitment process involves prelims (objective), mains (descriptive), and an interview.

PPSC Eligibility 2025

To appear for PPSC 2025, candidates need to meet certain eligibility criteria as prescribed by PPSC. This criterion includes Nationality, Age Limit, Educational Qualification, number of attempts, and Physical Standard.

  1. Nationality:

Candidates must be Indian citizens. In case candidates are from Nepal, Bhutan, or any other country, then they need to provide a certificate of eligibility provided by the Punjab Government as per Punjab Civil Service rules, 1994.

  1. Educational Qualification:
  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized University/Institution.
  • Candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in the Punjabi language.
  • In case a candidate is a ward of Defence Service Personnel, he/she must qualify the Punjabi language test conducted by the Language Wing of the Department of Education of the Punjab Government within a period of two years from the date of his appointment.
  1. Physical standard:

This criterion is only for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Jails (Grade-II)/ District Probation Officer (Jails). Candidates must qualify for a physical test after the mains qualification. This table shows Physical Standards for both men and women:

How to apply for PPSC 2025?

PPSC opened its online application form-filling window on January 3, 2025. Last date To apply for PPSC 2025, candidates can follow the steps given below:

  1. At first, visit ppsc.gov.in
  2. Go to the “Online Application Form” link for PPSC 2025.
  3. Fill in your personal details and educational qualifications.
  4. Upload your photograph, signature, and educational certificates.
  5. Pay the application plus exam fee by online mode only.
  6. Review your application form and submit it.
  7. Take a printout of the application form and the fee receipt.

PPSC will release PPSC Mains admit card 2025 on its official website around 7-8 days before the Mains exam. Candidates can follow the steps given below to get access to their admit card:

  1. Visit the official PPSC website ppsc.gov.in
  2. Go to PPSC 2025 Admit Card
  3. Log in by using the registration number and DOB and submit.
  4. Once the PDF opens, check details like Name, Father’s name, DOB, Registration No., Roll No., Photograph & Signature, Exam date(s), Session & Reporting time, Exam centre & address.
  5. Download and take a printout.

PPSC 2025 Syllabus

PPSC 2025 selection process is divided into prelims, mains, and an interview. PPSC Prelims 2025 has two papers: General Studies and CSAT. PPSC Mains has a total of seven papers. In PPSC interview, a candidate’s overall personality is evaluated.

PPSC Prelims Syllabus 2025

PPSC Prelims has two objective-type papers, General Studies and CSAT. Their syllabus is given below:

  1. General Studies: It includes everyday science, environmental studies, political theory & international order, Indian Polity, History of India & World, Indian economy, geography, current affairs, and Punjab GS (geography; people, society & culture; history; economy).
  2. CSAT: It includes Reading Comprehension (both English & Punjabi), interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, basic numerical skills, and data analysis.

PPSC Mains Syllabus 2025

PPSC Mains has seven descriptive papers. All mains papers are compulsory, but Paper-1 and Paper-2 are qualifying in nature. The syllabus for each paper is given below:

  1. Paper-1 (English): It has two sections. Section A has Comprehension, Precis Writing, Essay Writing, Letter Writing, and Translation. Section B has only Grammar.
  2. Paper-2 (Punjabi): Similar to Paper-1, this paper also has two sections, but in Punjabi (Gurumukhi script). Section A includes Comprehension, Precis Writing, Essay Writing, Letter Writing, and Translation. Section B has only Grammar.
  3. Paper-3 (Essay): It includes writing three essays in English or Punjabi, in which candidates need to write in order and concisely.
  4. Paper-4 (General Studies 1): It includes History of India & World, Geography (including Punjabi), Societal structure, and issues.
  5. Paper-5 (General Studies 2): It includes the Indian Constitution & Polity, Governance, and International Relations.
  6. Paper-6 (General Studies 3): It includes Indian economy, Statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams, and Issues related to Security.
  7. Paper-7 (General Studies 4): It includes Science and Technology, Environment, Situations in Civil Service, Problem Solving and Decision Making.

PPSC Interview evaluates a candidate based on Personality, Intellectual & Analytical Qualities, leadership, communication skills, and awareness & knowledge.

PPSC Selection Process 2025

PPSC follows a three-stage recruitment process to select candidates as PCS Officers:

  • Prelims: Objective-type, screening test
  • Mains: Descriptive exam
  • Interview: Personality assessment

PPSC 2025 Answer Key

PPSC will release its provisional prelims answer keys on its official website. To get access to the answer key, candidates are required to follow the given steps:

  1. Visit the official PPSC website ppsc.gov.in
  2. Go to the “What’s New / Notices / Answer Key” section on the homepage.
  3. Select PPSC Prelims Answer Key option.
  4. Then click on the link to download the Answer Key PDF for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  5. Open the PDF and cross-check your answers with the official key.
  6. Then calculate your score using the marking scheme (+2 for correct answers, -1/3 for wrong answers for Prelims Paper 1).

To qualify for mains, candidates must secure a minimum mark of 40% in CSAT. CSAT doesn’t have negative marking. Merit of prelims depends on Paper-1 or General Studies.

PPSC 2025 Result

PPSC Prelims Result 2025 has been released on the official PPSC website on January 10, 2026. The final Merit List includes candidate names, roll numbers, and service allotted in a PDF format. Given below are the steps to view PPSC Result:

  1. Visit the official APSC website apsc.nic.in
  2. Go to the “What’s New” section.
  3. After that, click on PPSC Result link.
  4. PPSC Result PDF will be opened on your screen, which you can download.

After prelims, candidates equal to 12 to 13 times the vacancy will be selected for the mains. After the mains, candidates equal to 3 times the vacancy will be selected for the interview. Final merit will be on mains (written) and interview marks.
