APSC Notification 2026 will be released soon by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). It is a state-level civil service exam conducted annually to recruit officers for various civil services and administrative posts under the Government of Assam. APSC conducts a separate online application process for both the Prelims and Mains exams. Prelims is an objective-type screening test to shortlist candidates for Mains exam. Shortlisted candidates fill in the application form for APSC Mains exam (descriptive type) and Interview. Final selection is based on candidates' scores in Mains and Interview.

What is APSC Exam?

APSC exam is conducted to appoint officers to various Group A and Group B posts of Assam Government, like Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade), Assam Police Service (Junior Grade), Assam Finance Service, Deputy Collector, Labour Officer, District Transport Officer, BDO, etc. APSC exam is conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

APSC Notification 2026

APSC Notification 2026 will be released on the official website of APSC. This notification will include Prelims and Mains application start and end dates, Prelims and Mains exam dates, number of vacancies allotted, detailed eligibility criteria, exam pattern, exam syllabus, educational qualifications, how to apply, etc.

APSC Eligibility 2026

Candidates appearing for APSC Recruitment 2026 must meet certain eligibility criteria set by APSC. This criterion includes Nationality, domicile, Age Limit, Educational Qualification, and number of attempts.

  1. Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  2. Domicile: Candidates must be Assamese natives & must be able to speak Assamese language and any other official language of the state.
  3. Age Limit: Candidates must not be less than 21 years and must not be more than 38 years of age as on January 1, 2026. The following table shows the upper age limit relaxation:

  1. Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have completed graduation in any discipline from any university recognized by the Government of India or State Government. However, specific posts like engineering, medical, etc, require graduation in that specific field.

  1. Number of Attempts:

Candidates can appear as many times as they wish, provided they are within the age limit as per their category.

How to Apply Online for APSC 2026?

APSC will announce the date on which the online application form filling for APSC Prelims 2026 will start. Candidates should follow the steps given below to fill out their Prelims application form:

  1. Visit apscrecruitment.in
  2. Register yourself with name, DOB, valid email ID, mobile number, and Aadhar.
  3. Verify email and mobile number with OTP.
  4. Then, in the application form, fill out your personal details, educational qualifications, category, and post preferences.
  5. Upload scanned documents like a photograph, signature, and educational certificates.
  6. Pay the application fee as per your category.
  7. Then, review all the details and submit.
  8. Download and print your application form and payment receipt.

APSC Application Fee 2026

APSC, in partnership with Meity, will charge a processing fee from each candidate as part of the Digital India Initiative. Candidates need to pay their application fee (category-wise) as mentioned in the table given below:

APSC 2026 Admit Card

APSC will release APSC Prelims admit card 2026 around 7-8 days before the Prelims exam. Candidates can follow the steps given below to download their APSC admit card:

  1. Visit the official APSC website apsc.nic.in
  2. On the homepage, go to “Download Admit Card”.
  3. Fill in your registration number and DOB (password).
  4. Once the PDF opens, check your Name, Father’s name, DOB, Registration No., Roll No., Photograph & Signature, Exam date(s), Session & Reporting time, Exam centre & address.
  5. Download and take a printout.

APSC 2026 Syllabus

APSC selection process involves Prelims, Mains, and an Interview. APSC Prelims contains two papers, and Mains contains a total of six papers. APSC Mains is followed by an Interview/Personality Test.

APSC Prelims Syllabus 2026

APSC Prelims has two papers, General Studies 1 and General Studies 2 (CSAT/Aptitude).

  1. General Studies 1: It includes Current events, History of India & Indian National Movement, Indian & World Geography, Indian Polity & Governance, Economic & Social Development, Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity & Climate Change, General Science, and Assam-specific topics.
  2. General Studies 2: Comprehension, Interpersonal skills, Communication skills, Logical reasoning & analytical ability, Decision making & problem solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy, Data Interpretation.

Note: 30-35% questions in General Studies 1 will be from Assam.

APSC Mains Syllabus 2026

APSC Mains has a total of six papers. Paper 1 is an essay paper. Papers 2 to 6 contain General Studies, which are subject-specific.

  1. Paper 1 (Essay): It includes writing about any specific topic.
  2. Paper 2 (General Studies 1): It includes Indian History, Heritage, Culture & Society, Geography of India & World.
  3. Paper 3 (General Studies 2): It includes Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, and International Relations.
  4. Paper 4 (General Studies 3): It includes Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security & Disaster Management.
  5. Paper 5 (General Studies 4): It includes Ethics, Integrity & Aptitude.
  6. Paper 6: It includes Assam-specific topics (History, Heritage, Culture, Governance, Polity, Social Justice, International Relations, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security & Disaster Management of Assam).

APSC Interview involves evaluating a candidate based on his/her personality, Intellectual & Analytical Qualities, and communication skills.

Both papers of APSC General Studies 1 and General Studies 2 have objective-type questions.

APSC Selection Process 2026

APSC conducts a three-stage selection process to select candidates for Assam civil services:

  • Prelims: Objective-type, screening test,
  • Mains: Descriptive exam
  • Interview: Personality assessment

After Prelims result, the number of candidates qualified for Mains will be 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies. After Mains result, the number of candidates qualified for the Interview will be three times the number of vacancies.

APSC 2026 Answer Key

APSC will release its provisional answer keys for Prelims on its official website. To get access to the answer key, candidates shall follow the given steps:

  1. Visit the official APSC website apsc.nic.in
  2. Go to the “Answer Keys/Latest Updates/Important Links” section on the homepage.
  3. Select APSC Prelims Answer Key option.
  4. Then click on the link to download the Answer Key PDF for Paper 1 and Paper 2 (CSAT).
  5. Open the PDF and cross-check your answers with the official key.
  6. Then calculate your score using the marking scheme (+1 for correct answers, -1/4 for wrong answers for Prelims Paper 1/ General Studies 1).

To qualify for Mains, candidates must secure a minimum mark of 33% in CSAT. CSAT doesn’t have negative marking. Marks of Paper-1 or General Studies 1 are considered.

APSC 2026 Result

APSC Result 2026 will be released on APSC website. The final Merit List will have candidate names, roll numbers, and service allotted in Assam in a PDF format. Candidates shall follow the steps given below to view APSC Result PDF:

  1. Visit the official PPSC website apsc.gov.in
  2. Go to the “Results” section.
  3. After that, click on APSC Result link.
  4. APSC Result PDF will be opened on your screen, which you can download.

Ques: Is employment exchange registration mandatory for giving APSC exam?

Ans: Yes. Every candidate needs to get registered at a district employment office in Assam. After this, they need to submit the employment exchange registration number during the online application.

Ques: Can I apply for multiple posts in APSC exam?

Ans: Yes. You can apply for multiple posts only if you meet the eligibility criteria for each post. But for each post, separate applications and fees are required.
