Categories of Government Employment Exams

The details about the different categories of Government Recruitment exams and the names of some of them are given below.

Banking Exams

Banking Exams are very high in demand because of the pay scale and the honour that comes with them. Most of the banking exams are conducted annually. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is one of the exam conducting bodies. It organises combined competitive exams for multiple banks. These exams are held separately for varied posts like Probationary Officer, Specialist Officer, Clerks and others. Some of the most popular banking exams are IBPS PO, IBPS SO, SBI PO , SBI SO, IBPS RRB, IBPS Clerk, SBI Clerk, RBI Assistant, etc.

Railway Exams

Indian Railways conduct various exams for the recruitment of candidates in different roles and positions. There are four levels of jobs in Indian Railways- Groups A, B, C, and D. While groups A and B are gazetted posts, groups C and D are non-gazetted posts. There are 17 zones and 71 divisions under those 17 zones. Some RRB exams are conducted across the country for all the zones while some others conducted for specific zones. UPSC Exams

Union Public Service Commission is one of the most important exam-conducting organisations. It conducts exams for jobs in multiple departments, ministries and organisations. These jobs are very lucrative and highly respected. UPSC CSE is the most competitive and sought after exam in the country. Lakhs of students appear for the exam every year for job in IAS, IPS, IFoS, etc. Various other exams such as IES, CMS, IES ISS, EPFO, CAPF, IDAS, SO Steno, IRTS, and several more are conducted by UPSC.

PSU Exams

Various PSUs releases employment notifications for various posts like administrative, executive, managerial, technical, and other roles. The notifications are often released on their official websites and employment newspapers. They recruit both freshers and experienced personnels for their vacancies. The job profiles may be contractual or full time. BHEL, BEL, AIIMS, ICMR, DRDO, India Post GDS, DMRC, IOCL are some of the PSUs that releases recruitment notifications.

State PSC Exams

Apart from the Union Public Service Commission, there are state level Public Service Commissions that recruit candidates of their respective states. These bodies conduct several exams through the year to hire candidates for multiple offices, departments, and ministries of the state.
