  1. Prelims exam: It is a statewide screening test used only to shortlist candidates for the Mains. Performance here decides who advances; the marks are not added to the final merit.
  2. Mains exam: It is a descriptive, written exam that evaluates depth of understanding, analytical ability, clarity of expression, and answer presentation across general studies, language, and essay components.
  3. Physical Test: For posts like Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and other uniformed roles, shortlisted candidates must pass a Physical Standards Test (PST) and/or Physical Efficiency Test (PET). PST checks measurements (e.g., height and, for men, chest) against fixed standards and typically involves basic endurance activities.
  4. Interview / Personality Test: Candidates who qualify Mains (and PST/PET where applicable) are called for an in-person interview. A panel assesses overall personality, communication, awareness, decision-making, and suitability for administrative responsibilities.
  5. Document Verification, Medical Fitness & Final Merit: After the interview, original documents are verified to confirm eligibility, reservation claims, domicile, and other criteria. A medical fitness exam is conducted wherever required. The final selection list is prepared based on the combined Mains + Interview score.
