Amid multiple controversies that the NTA is currently embroiled in, the agency on June 21, 2024 issued a notification regarding postponement of CSIR NET June 2024 exam due to “unavoidable circumstances and logistical issues”.
The notification stated: "Unavoidable circumstances and logistical challenges have caused the Joint CSIR-UGC-NET Examination June-2024, which was scheduled to be held between June 25 and 27, 2024, to be postponed. The revised schedule for the conduct of this exam will be announced later through the official website.” Candidates have been asked to keep checking the official website.

In compliance with the UGC's eligibility requirements, the Joint CSIR UGC-NET is conducted to evaluate Indian citizens' eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs), Assistant Professor posts, and PhD admissions.
This has happened a few days after the Union Home Ministry provided information indicating that the exam's integrity had been compromised, leading the Union Education Ministry to cancel UGC-NET. Students all throughout the nation have been questioning the testing organisation for the past several days on the anomalies in NEET-UG and the recent cancellation of UGC-NET.
Whereas UGC-NET covers the entire humanities, CSIR-NET focuses on five science subjects: life science, earth science, physics, chemical science, and mathematics.
Students in New Delhi have said that they will not stop protesting against the "inefficiencies" of the NTA.
"The UGC-NET exam has been cancelled amidst growing concerns over the integrity of the exam process," the National Students' Union of India said in a statement.
"After failing two exams in a row, Narendra Modi should demand that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign and that the NTA be immediately banned. Determinate action is required to restore faith in our educational system, as the recurrent leaks and exam mismanagement have negatively damaged the future of many students, according to NSUI's statement.
