TNPSC exam pattern 2026 is structured to assess a candidate’s aptitude, knowledge, and personality through multiple stages. Prelims has objective (MCQ) papers and is used as a screening test, and has 2 papers that include GS and Aptitude Tests. Successful candidates move to the Mains, which is descriptive in nature with multiple papers, and their marks are counted for the final. Lastly, the Interview evaluates the candidate’s personality, decision-making, and communication, and carries 100 marks. TNPSC Selection Process 2026

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has the following selection process:

  1. Prelims: A Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based screening test.

TNPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2026

TNPSC Mains exam pattern is designed to assess candidates' in-depth knowledge and understanding of various subjects. The pattern and structure vary across different groups and services. All papers of the Mains exam are descriptive in nature. In Mains, the language paper is qualifying in nature. This Mains exam pattern is for Group 1 and Group 2.

TNPSC Interview Exam Pattern 2026

TNPSC Interview exam evaluates candidates' personality, communication skills, and suitability for the role. However, the pattern and marking scheme vary with groups and services. This stage of selection is for Group 1 and Group 2.

TNPSC Group 3 Exam is conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to recruit candidates for various ministerial and non-ministerial posts. The exam consists of a single written test followed by document verification.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern

In TNPSC exam, the Tamil language forms a crucial part. In Prelims, questions are formed either in English or Tamil.
