TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility 2026: Check Age Limit & Qualifications

TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility Criteria 2026 has been released along with the official notification. To apply for TNPSC Group I 2026, the minimum age required is 21 years as of July 1, 2026. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university under the 10+2+3 pattern, with certain posts preferring qualifications such as Law, Commerce, or Social Sciences. For roles like Deputy Superintendent of Police, preferred physical standards relating to height and chest measurements are also mandatory. Adequate knowledge of Tamil is required, either through formal education or by passing the Tamil language test conducted by TNPSC.

TNPSC Group 1 Age Limit 2026

To be eligible for TNPSC Group 1 2026, the candidates should have completed the minimum age of 21 years, as of July 1, 2026 for all posts. The category-wise maximum age limit and age concession details are given below:

Note: The above-mentioned age concession will not apply to the Ex-Servicemen candidates who have already been recruited to any class or service, or category.

TNPSC Group 1 Educational Qualification

To be eligible for TNPSC Group 1 2026, the candidate must have the following qualifications:

• Candidate must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or an equivalent qualification.
• Candidates should have studied in 10th + 12th + Degree format under the 10+2+3 pattern.

TNPSC Group 1 Language Proficiency

Candidate must have proficiency in Tamil Language to be eligible for TNPSC Group1 2026. The details are given below:

1. Requirement:

• Candidates should have adequate knowledge in Tamil on the date of notification.

2. Ways a candidate is considered to have adequate knowledge in Tamil:

• If he/she has passed SSLC (10th Standard) or its equivalent examination with Tamil as one of the languages.
• If he/she has studied the Higher Secondary Course (HSC) or a Degree in Tamil medium.
• If he/she has passed SSLC or its equivalent examination in Tamil medium.
• If he/she has passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).

3. Documents Required:

• Candidates must upload/produce SSLC / HSC / Degree / PG Degree mark sheets showing Tamil as a subject, or proof of having passed the Second Class Language Test in Tamil conducted by TNPSC, when called for.

4. If Proof is not Provided:

• Candidates who fail to upload/produce documents proving adequate knowledge in Tamil will be required to pass the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by TNPSC within two years from the date of appointment.

TNPSC Group 1 Physical Standards

For the post of Deputy Superintendent Police (Category 1), the candidate must meet the following physical standards:
