TNPSC Group 1 Educational Qualification

To be eligible for TNPSC Group 1 2026, the candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates should have studied in 10th + 12th + Degree format under the 10+2+3 pattern.

  2. Preference shall be given to graduates in Economics, Education, Sociology, Statistics, Psychology and to those with Post Graduate Diploma in Social Science and experience in industrial or personnel management or labour welfare.

TNPSC Group 1 Language Proficiency

Candidate must have proficiency in Tamil Language to be eligible for TNPSC Group1 2026. The details are given below:

  1. Requirement:
  • Candidates should have adequate knowledge in Tamil on the date of notification.
  1. Ways a candidate is considered to have adequate knowledge in Tamil:
  • If he/she has passed SSLC (10th Standard) or its equivalent examination with Tamil as one of the languages.
  • If he/she has studied the Higher Secondary Course (HSC) or a Degree in Tamil medium.
  • If he/she has passed SSLC or its equivalent examination in Tamil medium.
  • If he/she has passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
  1. Documents Required:
  • Candidates must upload/produce SSLC / HSC / Degree / PG Degree mark sheets showing Tamil as a subject, or proof of having passed the Second Class Language Test in Tamil conducted by TNPSC, when called for.
  1. If Proof is not Provided:
  • Candidates who fail to upload/produce documents proving adequate knowledge in Tamil will be required to pass the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by TNPSC within two years from the date of appointment.
