NOTE:

• General Hindi is only a qualifying paper; candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks but its score is not added to the merit list.
• The Essay Paper evaluates a candidate’s ability to express ideas clearly and logically.
• General Studies Papers test knowledge of Indian history, polity, economy, geography, current events, and analytical ability.
• The Optional Paper allows candidates to select one subject from a prescribed list, enabling them to score higher based on their strengths.

BPSC Mains Optional Subjects 2025

Candidates can choose one optional subject from the following list for the Mains examination. The paper carries 300 marks and has a duration of 3 hours.
