RRB Recruitment 2025: Salary Structure, Allowances & Job Profile

RRB salary and allowances differ on the basis of posts and departments. The salary structure is mentioned as of 7th pay commission. For the post of Junior Engineer (JE), one gets around Rs. 34,000, during training, which may raise up to Rs. 42,000 after completion of training. NTPC Undergraduate posts get Rs. 19,000 while for Post-Graduate posts it is above Rs. 25,000 per month. The salary structure also includes other allowances like DA, HRC, etc as per the post.

Railway Recruitment Board conducts recruitment exams for different posts in technical and non-technical fields. The selection of the candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in the online entrance exam. Further selection is done by the next stage of screening including interview and verification.

RRB Salary Structure 2025

After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, Indian railways has not only raised salaries but also included many benefits for the employees in Railway Salary Package. The average salary of a new graduate is around Rs. 24000 per to Rs. 52000 per month for Selection Engineer Post. SBI offers a salary account to the Indian Railway Employees. This is known as Railway Salary Package.

Promotion and Growth

RRB Promotion and Career Growth

Promotion rules are clearly stated by the Railways and one has to go through exams or a selection process (depending on Groups and departments) to get promoted. Notifications are not released publicly for these.

  • RRB Group D employees are eligible to get promoted to Group C after 3 years of regular service. This promotion is based on departmental exams. Marks are given for written test – 85 marks and record of service- 15 marks.
  • Promotion within Group c is done by Selection or Non-Selection method.
    • Selection Posts- These are posts which have been declared as such by Railway Board. Senior-most employees in next lower grade are called to appear in the selection.
    • Non-selection Posts- For non-selection posts selection is done based on seniority cum suitability. Suitability is determined on the basis of departmental test/ oral test/ trade test. A senior person is rejected only when declared unfit.
