RRB Group D 2026 exam pattern has been structured into four stages, including Computer-Based Tests (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Exam. The CBT has a total of 100 objective-type questions, each carrying 1 mark, to be completed in 90 minutes or 1:30 hours. Candidates qualifying in CBT will be called for PET, which is qualifying in nature. PET has different parameters for male, female, and PwBD candidates. PET-qualified candidates will be called for DV and Medical Exam.

RRB Group D Computer-Based Test (CBT) 2026 has four subjects, which include mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness & Current Affairs. RRB Group D 2026 Selection Process

RRB Group D selection process 2026 has four stages designed to evaluate candidates in the following manner:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): The first screening stage that has 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) covering four subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness & Current Affairs.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who qualify for CBT will be called for a physical efficiency test to ensure they meet the physical requirements for RRB Group D.

3. Document Verification (DV): Candidates qualifying for the PET are to undergo document verification to confirm their eligibility proof.

4. Medical Examination: After DV, candidates will be called for a comprehensive medical assessment, which ensures that candidates meet the required health standards for Group D posts.

5. Empanelment: The final stage includes successful candidates being empanelled in RRB Group D Final Merit.

RRB Group D 2026 Marking Scheme

RRB Group D exam 2026 follows a specific marking scheme, which is given below:

Positive Marking:

  • Each correct answer: +1 mark
  • Total marks: 100

Negative Marking:

  • Each incorrect answer: -1/3 mark (0.33 marks deducted)
  • Unattempted questions: No marks deducted

RRB Group D 2026 Normalisation of Marks in CBT

RRB Group D CBT exam is held in multiple shifts owing to a wide number of applicants. To ensure fairness across different exam sessions, RRB Group D normalisation of marks is implemented.

Normalisation Formula:

RRB uses the following scientific normalisation formula:

Xn = (S2/S1) (X - Xav) + Yav

Where:

  • Xn = Normalized marks of the candidate
  • X = Raw marks obtained by the candidate
  • Xav = Average marks of all candidates in the candidate's session
  • Yav = Average marks of all candidates in the base session
  • S1 = Standard deviation of marks in the candidate's session
  • S2 = Standard deviation of marks in the base session

Base Session Selection:

  • The base session is determined from sessions with 70% or above average attendance.
  • The session with the maximum mean raw score becomes the base session
  • This ensures the most representative session is used as the benchmark

RRB Group D 2026 PET Exam Pattern 2026

RRB Group D PET 2026 is qualifying in nature. Candidates who have cleared CBT will be called for PET. Candidates failing to qualify for PET will be disqualified. PET parameters vary based on the specific post applied for:

Track Maintainer Grade-IV:

  • Male Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry a 35 kg weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting the weight down
  • Female Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry a 20 kg weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting the weight down

Helper/Assistant (Various Departments):

  • Male Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry a 25 kg weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting the weight down
  • Female Candidates: Should be able to lift and carry a 15 kg weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting the weight down
