SSC Stenographer 2025 Eligibility Criteria

SSC Stenographer 2025 aspirants must meet specific eligibility conditions to apply for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D posts in 2025. SSC Stenographer 2025 eligibility criteria include educational qualification, age limit, nationality, and conditions for age relaxation.

SSC Stenographer Nationality Criteria

The applicant must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has permanently settled in India after migrating from select countries.

Candidates other than Indian citizens must provide a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

SSC Stenographer Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
  • The qualification must be obtained on or before 1 August 2025.
  • If a candidate’s result is declared after 1 August 2025, they will not be eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must be able to produce the original mark sheet and certificate during document verification.
  • Qualifications obtained through Open or Distance Learning will be accepted only if the institution is approved by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of UGC for the relevant time period.
  • For technical qualifications (like diplomas or B.Tech), degrees in fields like engineering, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy obtained via distance learning are not valid, as per UGC guidelines.
  • Candidates with equivalent qualifications must provide an equivalence certificate from the relevant authority at the time of document verification.
  • Those who fail to provide proof of qualification at the time of verification will have their candidature cancelled.

SSC Stenographer Age Limit (as on 1 August 2025)

The age limit differs for Grade C and Grade D posts. Candidates must be within the specified age range to apply.

SSC Stenographer Age Relaxation (Category-Wise)

Certain categories are eligible for age relaxation in the upper age limit, as per government rules:

Age relaxation is applicable only if the required category certificate is valid and submitted on time.

Note for Ex-Servicemen

  • Must have completed at least 15 years of military service (for Matriculate Ex-Servicemen applying for Grade D).
  • Candidates discharged for misconduct are not eligible.
  • Sons/daughters/dependents of Ex-Servicemen are not given age relaxation.

SSC Stenographer 2025 Application Process

SSC Stenographer aspirants who meet the eligibility criteria can apply through the official SSC website from June 6 to 26, 2025. The process includes one-time registration (OTR), filling out the online form, uploading documents, and fee payment. Here’s how a candidate can apply for the exam:

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

  • First-time applicants must complete a one-time registration on the new SSC website:ssc.gov.in.
  • During OTR, candidates must provide their basic personal details, Aadhaar number (optional but preferred), mobile number, and email ID.
  • Aadhaar-authenticated candidates will not be rejected due to photo/signature issues.

Step 2: Filling the Application Form

  • After OTR, candidates can log in to their dashboard and select Stenographer Grade C & D 2025 from the active exams list.
  • Enter all required details such as:
    • Post preference (Grade C / Grade D / Both)
    • Exam centre preferences (choose 3)
    • Educational qualification
    • Category and reservation details
    • Disability/scribe requirements (if applicable)

Step 3: Capturing Photograph and Signature

  • The application portal captures a live photograph using the device’s camera. No pre-uploaded images are allowed (unless Aadhaar-authenticated).
  • Candidates must ensure:
    • Face is clearly visible
    • No cap, mask, or glasses are worn
    • Full frontal face view is maintained
  • Signature must be uploaded in JPEG/JPG format (10–20 KB). Dimension: 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm.

Step 4: Uploading Required Certificates (if applicable)

  • PwD candidates must upload their disability certificates in the prescribed format at the time of filling out the application form.
  • Candidates claiming reservation must keep category certificates ready for later verification, although uploading them at the application stage is not mandatory.

Step 5: Application Fee Payment

  • The application fee is ₹100.
  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, women, and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from the fee.
  • Payment methods include BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit/Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay).
  • The last date to pay the fee is 27 June 2025 (11:00 PM).

Step 6: Final Submission

  • Before submitting, candidates should preview their filled form and ensure all details, photograph, and signature are correct.
  • Once submitted, download and save a copy of the application form for future reference.

SSC Stenographer Application Correction Window

SSC provides a chance to correct mistakes after the application deadline:

  • The correction window will be open from 1 July to 2 July 2025 (11:00 PM).
  • Candidates can edit their form twice:
    • First correction: ₹200
    • Second correction: ₹500
  • A fee is mandatory for submitting corrections, even if the applicant is from an exempted category.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern

The CBT is the first stage of SSC Stenographer 2025 recruitment process, which is followed by a skill test. CBT tests candidates on reasoning, general awareness, and English comprehension.
