With time, as they gain experience, they get promoted from the District level to the Central level. With 37+ years of experience in the service, they can become Cabinet Secretary of India. In this position, they receive the highest salary of INR 2,50,000/-.

IAS Salary During Training: Once the training starts at LBSNNA, Mussoorie the officer gets a stipend. It ranges from INR 35,000/- to INR 40,000/- for 2 years. Also, they are provided with accommodation, food, and other amenities as per their needs.

Initial IAS Salary Per Month: After training, the initial salary of an IAS officer is INR 56,100/- per month. They are given all the allowances including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), etc. The amount and facility depend on your job posting, location, and requirements.

IAS Salary In-Hand: The in-hand salary as an IAS might vary because the IAS Salary Structure does include DA, TA, and HRA. So the in-hand salary depends on the allowances. The basic pay is INR 56,100/- per month.

IAS Salary After Promotion (Based on Grade Pay)

When you spend a few years in the service, the salary increases with grade pay. The amount of different grade pay is as follows:

  • Junior Scale Basic IAS salary ranges from INR 50,000/- – INR 1,50,000/- with INR 16,500 Grade Pay. This Grade pay is provided to the officer with no experience.
  • Senior Time Scale IAS salary ranges from INR 50,000/- – INR 1,50,001/- with Grade Pay of INR 20,000/-. This does require 5 years of service.
  • Junior Administrative Grade – With this Grade pay of INR 23,000/-, they are provided INR 50,000/- – INR 1,50,002/-. To receive a salary with this grade they must have 9 years of experience.
  • IAS Salary After 5 Years – With 5 years of service, roles and responsibilities are increased thereby salary increases from 3% to 5% on your basic salary after grade pay of the Senior Time Scale.
  • IAS Salary After 10 Years – After 10 years in the service, IAS salary ranges from INR 1,00,000 to INR 1,50,000 per month.
  • IAS Salary After 20 Years – After 20 years of service, IAS Salary ranges from INR 1,50,000 to INR 2,00,000 per month.
  • Highest Salary of IAS Officer – The highest salary of INR 2,50,000/- per month is given to the Cabinet Secretary of India. This is the highest job position an IAS gets after clearing the UPSC exam.
