SBI PO 2026 eligibility criteria have different parameters- Age Limit, Educational Qualification, and Nationality. Candidates must check out the detailed eligibility criteria in the official notification and the cutoff date for the age limit and educational qualification. At the time of application, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Also, they must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years. If candidates are from a reserved category, such as OBC, PwD, or Ex-Serviceman, then they get age relaxation in the upper age limit. Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for SBI PO exam 2026.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2026

SBI has released the eligibility for PO along with the notification on its website, which is based on the following factors-

  • Age Limit
  • Educational Background
  • Nationality
  • Number of Attempts

SBI PO Age Limit (As on April 01, 2026)​

You can check the age limit criteria to apply for SBI PO exam below-

  • You must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years as of April 01, 2026.
  • You must have been born not later than April 01, 2005, and not earlier than April 04, 1996 (both days inclusive).

SBI PO Age Relaxation 2026

SBI PO 2026 Age Relaxation will apply to candidates belonging to different categories. You can check out the age relaxation below in the table-

SBI PO Educational Qualification

You must check out the mandatory educational qualifications as well as the passing date and percentage calculation for the SBI PO-

  • You must have a Graduation or equivalent degree in any field from a university or educational institution recognised by the Central Government to apply for the SBI PO Exam 2026.
  • If you are in the final year/semester of graduation, then you can also fill out the SBI PO 2026 Application Form. You will be required to prove your certificate at the SBI PO interview.
  • If you possess an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), then you must ensure that your IDD was completed on or before December 31, 2026
  • If you possess qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, etc. would also be eligible.

SBI PO Passing Date

  • The date of passing the eligibility examination will be the date on your mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the university/institute.
  • If the result of the examination is posted on the university/institute’s website and a certificate is produced by the relevant university/institute authority specifying the date on which the result was posted on the website, that date will be considered the passing date.

SBI PO Calculation of Percentage

  • The percentage marks were calculated by dividing the total marks received by the candidate in all courses throughout all semesters/years by the aggregate maximum marks in all subjects, regardless of Honours/optional/additional optional subjects, if any.
  • The above regulation will also apply to universities where class/grade will be determined solely based on honours marks.
  • The fraction of the percentage must be ignored. For example, 59.99% will be rounded off to 60%.
  • You are directed to mention the percentage of their graduation degree calculated to the nearest two decimals in the SBI PO 2026 Application Form.
  • Where OGPA/CGPA is awarded, the same rule of percentage calculation should be applicable and shall be indicated in SBI PO 2026 Application Form.
  • If selected for the interview, you must show a certificate issued by the competent authorities, specifying the University’s rules for converting grades into percentages and the percentage of marks obtained following these norms.

SBI PO Nationality

Given below are the nationality requirements for SBI PO 2026 exam-

  • Citizen of India.
  • A subject of Bhutan/Nepal.
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962, intending to permanently settle down.
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who have migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, isbia, Ethiopia, and Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.
  • Candidates belonging to categories 2, 3, and 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favor.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2026- Number of Attempts

There is a restricted number of attempts for the SBI PO Exam 2026. However, appearing for the Prelims will not be counted as an attempt. The table given below summarises the number of attempts for each category-

SBI PO Reservation for Persons with Disability

Given below are the disabilities allowed for the SBI PO 2026 examination-

Locomotor Disabilities (LD)

You are eligible to apply under the Locomotor Disability (LD) category only if you cannot execute distinctive activities associated with movement of self and objects resulting from affliction of musculoskeletal or nervous system or both, including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy and Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity (SD) and Spinal Injury (SI) without any associated neurological / limb dysfunction.   • OA- Wherein one arm is affected, either right or left.
  • OL-Wherein one leg is affected, either right or left.
  • OAL- Wherein one arm and one leg are affected.
  • BL-Wherein both legs are affected.

Leprosy-Cured Person

If you are cured of leprosy but suffer from-

  • Loss of sensation in hands/feet as well as loss of sensation and paresis in the eye and eyelid, but with no manifest deformity.
  • Manifest deformity and paresis, but having enough mobility in their hands and feet to enable them to perform daily economic activities.
  • Extreme physical deformity as well as advanced age, which hinders you from undertaking any gainful occupation;

Cerebral Palsy

A Group of non-progressive neurological conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination, caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring before, during, or shortly after birth.

A medical or genetic condition resulting in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimetres) or less.

Muscular Dystrophy

A group of hereditary genetic muscle diseases that weaken the muscles that move the human body, and persons with multiple dystrophies have incorrect and missing information in their genes, which prevents them from making the proteins they need for healthy muscles. It is characterised by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue.

Acid Attack Victims

A person disfigured due to violent assaults by throwing acid or a similar corrosive substance.

Visually Impaired (VI)

Individuals suffering from any of the following conditions who fulfil the SBI exam eligibility under the reserved category-

  • A complete absence of sight.
  • Visual acuity not beyond 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen).
  • Limitation of the field of vision spanning over an angle of 20 degrees.

Hearing Impaired (HI)

Hearing impairment means a loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear for the conversational range of frequencies. A person whose sense of hearing is impaired owing to ordinary reasons of life, who has lost hearing in both ears or who cannot hear at all, even with amplified speech or sound.

Specific Learning Disability (SLD)

A heterogeneous group of conditions wherein there is a deficit in processing language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself as a difficulty to comprehend, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations and includes such conditions as perceptual disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and developmental aphasia.

Mental Illness (MI)

It means a substantial disorder of thinking, mood, perception, orientation, or memory that grossly impairs judgment, behaviour, capacity to recognise reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life, but does not include retardation, which is a condition of arrested or incomplete development of the mind of a person, especially characterised by subnormality of intelligence.

Multiple Disabilities

Multiple disabilities amongst LD, VI, HI, SLD & MI. If you possess benchmark disabilities, then only you would be eligible for reservation. The term “benchmark disability” means a person with not less than 40% of a specified disability, wherein the specified disability is not quantifiable and includes persons with a disability, where disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild)- ASD (M)

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neuro-developmental condition typically appearing in the first three years of life that significantly affects a person’s ability to communicate, understand relationships, and relate to others, and is frequently associated with unusual or stereotypical rituals or behaviours.

Ques: How many attempts are permitted on SBI PO 2026 examination?

Ans: The number of attempts in SBI PO 2026 examination is decided according to the category of the candidate. For the general category, the maximum number of attempts is 4, for OBC/PwD the maximum number of attempts is 7 and for SC/ST there is no restriction till they attain the prescribed upper age limit.

Ques: Is 60% necessary for applying for SBI PO 2026 exam?

Ans: No, 60% is not mandatory for applying for SBI PO 2026 examination. Any graduate fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for the SBI PO 2026 examination.

Ques: Can a 20-year-old apply for SBI PO 2026 exam?

Ans: No, a 20-year-old cannot apply for SBI PO 2026 exam. The maximum lower age limit is 21 years.

Ans: Candidates who cannot submit SBI PO 2026 application form within the stipulated time are granted an extension to submit the same, owing to the payment of a late fee. However, if they still fail to submit the application form within the required time the same will lead to disqualification.
