What is the Age Limit for SSC CHSL 2025-26?

• General category age: The SSC CHSL age limit for general category is 18 to 27 years. Candidates born not before January 2, 1999 and not later than January 1, 2008 are eligible to apply.
• Document for establishing age eligibility: The date of birth mentioned on the matriculation/secondary exam certificate is taken as proof of age.
• Age relaxations: The detailed age relaxations for SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria are given in the table below-

• Candidate must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan.
• Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo), Ethiopia, Vietnam, intending to permanently settle in India.
• Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, or any of the above-mentioned countries must produce an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Government of India.
• Without the eligibility certificate, their selection will not be confirmed even if they clear the exam.

SSC CHSL Documents Required for Eligibility Verification

SSC CHSL 2025-26 aspirants must produce the required documents during the document verification stage to establish their eligibility. Some documents are mandatory for all candidates, while others are specific to reserved categories.

SSC CHSL Documents Required for All Candidates-

• Matriculation/Secondary Certificate

  This serves as the official proof of date of birth. The Commission will not accept any other document for age verification.

• 12th Standard Educational Qualification Certificate

  Candidates must submit proof of having passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. The result must be declared on or before 01 January 2026.

• Photo Identity Proof

  A valid government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, etc., may be required at the time of verification.

• Relevant Certificate for Age Relaxation

  Candidates claiming age relaxation under various categories (e.g., government employees, widows, divorced women, etc.) must submit supporting documents.

• No Objection Certificate (NOC)

  Candidates already employed in Government or Government undertakings must provide an NOC from their current employer.

SSC CHSL Documents Required for Reserved Category Candidates:

Candidates belonging to reserved categories must submit valid and original certificates issued by the competent authority. These certificates must be in the formats specified in the annexures of the SSC CHSL 2025-26 notification.

Documents Required for Ex-Servicemen (ESM):

• Discharge Certificate, if already retired from the Armed Forces
• Certificate of Service, if currently serving, as proof of eligibility under the ESM category
• Ex-servicemen must also comply with the conditions laid down in the DoPT guidelines and SSC rules to avail benefits

Candidates with benchmark disabilities are eligible to apply for SSC CHSL 2025-26. However, the suitability of posts depends on the type and severity of the disability. The Staff Selection Commission has clearly identified which disabilities are acceptable for each post.

Provision of Scribe for PwBD Candidates

As per SSC CHSL 2025-26 rules:

• Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of the exam is given to candidates using a scribe or eligible for one but choosing to write independently.
• Candidates must indicate their requirement for a scribe at the time of filling the online application.

SSC CHSL 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria for Ex-Servicemen

Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are eligible to apply for SSC CHSL 2025-26 and are entitled to age relaxation benefits as per Government of India norms. However, their eligibility depends on specific conditions:

1. The candidate must have served in any rank, whether as a combatant or non-combatant, in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.
2. The candidate must satisfy at least one of the following conditions:

• Retired or relieved/discharged from such service after earning a pension.
• Relieved from service on medical grounds, attributable to military service or circumstances beyond the candidate’s control, and awarded a medical or disability pension.
• Released from service due to reduction in establishment (i.e., downsizing by the Armed Forces).
• Completed the specific period of engagement, but released with gratuity, and not dismissed/discharged on account of misconduct or inefficiency.
• Served in the Territorial Army, with pensionable service or qualifying service in broken spells.
• Served in the Army Postal Service (APS) and:
  • ​Retired from APS with pension, without reversion to parent cadre, or
  • Released on medical grounds attributable to military service and awarded disability pension.

• Served on deputation in APS for more than six months before 14 April 1987.

​ 3. Gallantry award winners of the Armed Forces are also considered eligible under the Ex-Servicemen category.

4. Ex-recruits who were boarded out or relieved on medical grounds and granted medical disability pension are also eligible.

Note:

• To claim reservation as an Ex-Serviceman, the candidate must acquire ESM status within one year from the closing date of application submission (i.e., by 18 July 2026).
• Age relaxation for ESM is 3 years after deducting military service duration from the actual age as of 01 January 2026.
• A matriculate Ex-Serviceman with at least 15 years of service is considered educationally eligible for Group C posts.
