SSC CHSL 2025-26 has 2 Tiers In the Tier 1 exam, the questions are asked from subjects – English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. Tier 2 has questions from Mathematics, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English, General Awareness, and Computer Proficiency. Both tiers of SSC CHSL Exam consist of MCQ-type questions. SSC CHSL Tier 2 is conducted in two sessions- Session I & Session II, and both are held on the same day. Session I includes the Objective-type exam while Session II has a skill test.

Highlights of SSC CHSL 2025-26 Exam:

  • No. of Questions in Tier 1: There are 100 questions for 200 marks in the Tier 1 Exam.
  • No. of Questions in Tier 2: There are 135 questions distributed in 3 sections in the Tier 2 Exam.
  • Negative marking: There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks in Tier 1 and 1 mark in Tier 2.
  • Exam duration: The time duration for Tier 1 is 60 minutes and for Tier 2 it is about 2 hrs 30 minutes.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test: There is a skill test/ typing test in Tier 2 where a candidate’s typing speed and accuracy are checked.

Skill Test for DEO/ DEO Grade 'A' in Department/Ministries

  • Here you are required to enter a passage of about 3700-4000 key depressions within 15 minutes.
  • A speed of 15000 key depressions per hour is required.
  • The passage to be entered may be written or displayed on the computer screen.
  • Candidates availing a scribe will be given compensatory time of 5 minutes, increasing the duration of the Skill Test to 20 minutes.

Skill Test for DEO/ DEO Grade 'A' except in Department/Ministries

  • You are required to enter a passage of about 2000-2200 key depressions within 15 minutes.
  • A speed of 8000 key depressions per hour is required.
  • The passage to be entered may be written or displayed on the computer screen.
  • Candidates availing a scribe will be given compensatory time of 5 minutes, increasing the duration of the Skill Test to 20 minutes.

SSC CHSL Typing Test for LDC/ JSA

  • The medium of the Typing Test can be either Hindi or English.
  • You have to opt for the medium in the online application form.
  • If you’re opting for English medium, you need a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.)
  • Those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 w.p.m.
  • The typing speed will be adjudged based on the accuracy of typing on the computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
  • Candidates availing a scribe will be given compensatory time of 5 minutes, increasing the duration of the Typing Test to 15 minutes.
