UPESSC will provide a detailed UPTET Syllabus 2026 in UPTET notification 2026. UPTET has two papers, Paper 1 is for the Primary standard or for classes 1 - 5, and Paper 2 is the Upper Primary standard or for classes 6 - 8. Paper 1 has 5 sections, which include Child Development & Pedagogy, Language-1 (Hindi), Language-2 (English / Sanskrit / Urdu), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 has 4 sections, which include Child Development & Pedagogy, Language-1 (Hindi), Language-2 (English / Sanskrit / Urdu), Mathematics & Science, or Social Studies.

UPTET Paper 1 Syllabus 2026

UPTET Paper 1, which is for Primary standard or for Class 1 to Class 5, has five sections. These include Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), Language 2 (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.

Child Development & Pedagogy • Meaning & concept of child development • Physical, psychological, emotional, language, and personality development• Factors influencing development • Learning: meaning, principles, laws (trial & error, reinforcement, etc.), stages of learning, theories like Piaget, Vygotsky, etc. • Inclusive education, understanding children with special needs • Teaching-learning process, strategies, pedagogy (methods, remedial/remedial teaching, error analysis)
Language-1 (Hindi) • अपठित अनुच्छेद (Unseen passage) • वर्णमाला: स्वर, व्यंजन; ध्वनियों का ज्ञान; वर्णों, मात्रा etc. • वाक्य निर्माण (simple, combined); वचन, लिंग, काल • विराम चिन्ह, संज्ञा-सर्वनाम-विशेषण etc. • मुहावरे, लोकोक्तियाँ; अलंकार; शब्द-समूह; सन्धि; प्रत्यय-उपसर्ग etc. • Pedagogy of Language Development: role of listening, speaking, reading, writing; challenges; assessment, etc.
Language-2(English / Urdu / Sanskrit) • Unseen passage/comprehension • Grammar: parts of speech, active/passive voice, tenses, singular/plural, prepositions, etc. • Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, idioms, phrases • Pedagogy: language teaching principles; role of listening/speaking, etc.
Mathematics • Number system (natural numbers, etc.), operations, fractions, decimals • Percentage; ratio & proportion; unitary method • Profit & loss; simple and compound interest • Geometry: basic shapes, angles, etc. • Measurement: length, weight, capacity, time, temperature, etc. • Data handling; volume; area etc.• Pedagogical issues: how to teach, error analysis, etc.
Environmental Studies • Family & friends; food & nutrition; plants & animals; water; shelter etc. • Things we make & the work we do; transport, communication etc.• Our surroundings, safety, basic health & hygiene, senses, etc. • Natural resources & environmental importance • Role of community & government; administration; festivals; cultural aspects etc. • Sports & games, basic physical education; civic sense etc.

Each of these five sections has 30 questions, with each carrying 1 mark.

UPTET Paper 2 Syllabus 2026

Paper 2 of UPTET, which is for Upper Primary standard or for Class 6 to 8, has four sections. The first three sections are Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), & language 2 (English/Urdu/Sanskrit). The fourth section is Mathematics and Science or Social Studies.

Child Development & Pedagogy In addition to the Paper 1 syllabus, developmental stages for ages ~11-14; more on learning theories; error analysis; inclusive education; special needs; teaching strategies; assessment methods; etc.
Language-1(Hindi) Higher level Hindi that includes grammar, comprehension, unseen passages, literary works (poems, prose); more complex grammar & syntax; pedagogy of language development.
Language-2 (English / Sanskrit / Urdu) More advanced grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, expression, grammar rules, pedagogy, etc.
Mathematics & Science • Mathematics: more advanced arithmetic; algebra; geometry; mensuration; statistics; speed, time, distance; etc. • Science: topics from biology, physics, chemistry at middle-school level: resource, matter, life processes, environment, sound, magnetism, etc.• Pedagogical issues in teaching Science and Math.
Social Studies • History: Ancient, Medieval, Modern Indian History basics; local/state history, etc. • Geography: physical geography, maps, climate, environment, natural resources, etc. • Civics / Political Science: governance, Constitution, rights & duties, local self-government, etc. • Economy & Social Issues in brief. • Pedagogy of Social Studies: how to teach, etc.
  • The first three sections have 30 questions, with each carrying 1 mark.
  • The fourth section has 60 questions, with each carrying 1 mark.

UPTET Syllabus 2026 has similar sections for both Paper 1 and Paper 2, but syllabus details vary. UPTET Paper 2 Syllabus has more depth and covers more topics in addition to what is mentioned for that section in the Paper 1 syllabus. Candidates should go through in detail and stick to learning what is mentioned in the syllabus. This will help in gaining more marks and securing a seat as a UP government school teacher.
