SSC CGL selection process 2024 includes three stages – Tier 1, Tier 2, and Document Verification (DV). Both the tiers are computer-based exams. Participating in all stages is important for you. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams are as follows - UR: 30%, OBC/ EWS: 25% and others: 20%.
SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is compulsory for everyone in order to qualify for Tier 2. SSC CGL Tier 2 exam will be considered for merit. The Commission has revised the SSC CGL Exam Pattern and Selection Process in 2024. As per the SSC CGL 2024 official notification, the Paper III of Tier 2 has been removed. Tier 2 consists of only Paper 1 and Paper 2.
SSC CGL 2024 selection process comprises mainly two stages. The SSC CGL Exam is conducted in two stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. You must clear all the stages to qualify for the particular post of SSC CGL. You will have to clear Tier 1 to appear for the Tier 2 exam.

There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.The exam pattern is given below:

Note-B: Candidates eligible for scribe will get an extra 20 minutes for 1 hour time.

Note-D: The questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for English Comprehension.
Note-E: Paper-I will be conducted in two sessions - Session –I & Session-II, on the same day. Session I will include conducting of Section I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. Session-II will include conducting of Module-II of Section-III. Therefore, duration of Session-I will be 2 hours and 15 minutes and duration of Session-II will be 15 minutes only.

After clearing all the tiers of selection, you have to appear for the Document Verification round. You must carry the originals and the photocopies of the following documents. Any candidate not bearing any of the required documents will be disqualified immediately. The candidates availing reservations must have adequate supportive documents or they will be considered under the General/ UR (Unreserved) criteria.

The minimum required marks to pass the Tiers 1, 2, and 3 of SSC CGL are given in the table below. However, minimum qualifying marks are different from cutoff marks. They don’t guarantee a candidate’s eligibility into the next round of selection. He/she will be called for the next round only if they clear the cutoff marks.

Ques. Is there no interview in SSC CGL?
Ans. No, according to the notification released in 2016, the interview process has been removed from the selection process. The candidates now have to appear for a skill-based test which consists of either Computer Proficiency Test or Data Entry Skill Test, based on the post applied for.
