SSC has released an exam notice on February 17, 2026, for SSC GD exam 2026, which specifies that the CBT has been postponed until further notice. SSC GD CBT 2026 was to start from February 23, 2026, onwards to fill 25,487 vacancies in General Duty Constable posts in forces such as BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, Assam Rifles, and SSF, along with Sepoy posts in NCB. SSC has clarified to over 35 lakh SSC GD aspirants that slot booking will not take place as of now, while city intimation slips and admit cards will be issued after the new CBT dates are announced.

SSC GD CBT 2026 is scheduled soon, so SSC is expected to open SSC GD Slot Booking Window 2026 soon. This facility helps candidates choose their preferred exam date, shift, and city. The slot booking process is to start from February 2026, and will remain open only for a short period, so candidates must book early. SSC GD Eligibility Criteria 2026

SSC GD eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit & age relaxation for reserved categories, educational qualifications, physical efficiency test, and physical standard test. SSC GD eligibility criteria are given below:

  1. Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India. Vacancies in CAPFs & AR are State/UT/area-wise. Hence a candidate must submit a domicile certificate/PRC against his domiciled state/UT.
  2. Age Limit: Candidates must be within the age of 18-23 years as on January 1, 2026. This means candidates born not before January 2, 2003, and not later than January 1, 2008, are eligible to apply. The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed.
  3. Age Relaxation: SSC has given certain relaxation in age for candidates from reserved categories, which is given below:

SSC GD Selection Process 2026

SSC GD selection process is completed in 3 stages, namely, CBE, PET & PST, DV & Medical. Final merit depends on CBE scores and qualifying status in other stages.
