SSC GD Exam Pattern 2026, Check CBT Pattern & Qualifying Marks

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has set SSC GD Constable exam pattern 2026. The exam is structured into a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) followed by physical tests (PET/PST) for shortlisted candidates, and lastly, the Medical Exam and Document Verification. The CBE online paper consists of 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), which are divided into four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi. Each section carries 20 questions, with each question carrying 2 marks, which makes a total of 160 marks. In SSC GD exam 2026, the duration of the CBT is 60 minutes, and there is negative marking for incorrect answers.

SSC GD CBT Qualifying Marks 2026

To move ahead in the selection process, candidates must score at least the minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). The required marks are different for various categories.

These are only the minimum marks required to qualify. The actual cut-off may be higher depending on the number of vacancies, state-wise distribution, and overall performance of candidates.

The marks in SSC GD 2026 are calculated based on the Computer-Based Test (CBT), along with bonus marks for NCC certificate holders if applicable. Each question in the CBT carries 2 marks, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Unanswered questions get zero marks.

The formula is: Final Marks = (Correct Answers × 2) - (Wrong Answers × 0.25)

After the raw score is calculated, SSC applies a normalisation method since the exam is held in multiple shifts. The normalised score becomes the final score used for preparing the merit list. In addition, candidates with an NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate get bonus marks (2%, 3%, or 5% of total marks, respectively), which are added to the normalised score

The final merit list for SSC GD Constable Exam 2026 is based primarily on a candidate’s performance in the Computer-Based Examination (CBE), with normalised scores used for ranking. Clearing the physical tests (PET/PST) and medical/document verification is mandatory, but these stages are qualifying only and do not carry marks. The final selection list is prepared state-wise and category-wise. Only candidates who qualify the physical and medical stages and score high in the CBE are included in the merit list.
